On average, one in five UK households has a cat. Children in particular are enthusiastic about the purring little animals with their velvety paws and soft fur. Of course, cat owners want their pets to be well all round! With this in mind, many of them have discovered CBD for cats in recent years. The natural active ingredient CBD is extracted from the female industrial hemp plant and is one of the best-known cannabinoids, which is also associated with many positive properties in animals:

- Relaxant – e.g. for muscular tension
- Anti-inflammatory – e.g. to support wound healing or possible infections
Since CBD exerts its effect via the body’s own endocannabinoid system unfolds, it has a wide range of effects on the organism and well-being. And all this without any intoxicating, psychoactive effects, since the THC content in CBD oils must be below the legally regulated limit of 0.2%.
Although CBD oils affect humans and animals alike, beneficial inner balance can bring, there is one crucial difference: cats should only be given special CBD oils that have been made exclusively for them. The reason: cats cannot tolerate terpenes! And while so-called full-spectrum oils with the whole variety of cannabinoids and terpenes are among the premium oils for humans, they are dangerous for cats. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention: only give your feline friend CBD oils for cats – preferably in sustainable organic quality. Start with a slightly lower dosage to begin with, e.g. 2 drops daily of a 3% CBD oil, which you then gradually increase depending on requirements and the desired effect. The more intense your cat’s symptoms, the higher the dosage can be. Just approach this carefully to find the right amount!

Which dosage form is ideal for cats? Many cat owners prefer CBD oils, as the dosage is quite precise and the effect can take effect quickly when dripped into the cat’s mouth. The ingredients are absorbed directly through the mucous membranes and can then develop their potential relatively quickly. If your little gourmet rejects the somewhat bitter taste of pure CBD, here’s another tip: Mix the CBD drops into the food or try special CBD treats. They are a little less precise to dose, but are usually very popular with the little four-legged friends. By the way: Most CBD products for cats are made with hemp oil, sunflower oil or salmon oil, which not only promotes inner balance, but is also considered a perfect food supplement for shiny fur.
